Olde Towne Carolers has performed in the Northeast United States since 2005, providing professional holiday musical entertainment for private parties, corporate events, shopping malls, country clubs, tree lightings, retirement communities, and special events. Due to the talent of our Boston-era colleagues, we developed our Boston division a decade ago to serve the New England region! Our singers perform in full Victorian costumes, specializing in acapella holiday music ranging from traditional carols to 20th century standards.

Eduardo Ramos

Eduardo Antonio Ramos Suárez (Tenor) sang the role of Jonathon Parker in Opera Hub’s production of Marschner’s Der Vampyr. A graduate of SUNY Fredonia and the New England Conservatory, Eduardo has portrayed the roles of Gomatz in Mozart’s Zaïde, Elder Gleaton in Floyd’s Susannah, Cochenille in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Silvio in Bizet’s Doctor Miracle, Don Miguel de Panatellas in Offenbach’s La Périchole, Alberto in Rossini’s La Gazzetta, Bazile in Grant Still’s A Bayou Legend, and Remendado in Bizet’s Carmen. Ramos also serves as a frequent roster singer for the local chapter of Opera on Tap.

Brian González

Brian González (Tenor). Praised for his "vocal power" and acting, Mexican American tenor Brian González is an active performer in the Boston area. He earned his MM in Opera from the Longy School of Music of Bard College and his BS in Music-Vocal Performance at Southern Adventist University. He has premiered the role of Eugene in the Last Call with NANOWorks Opera, he also performed in the New England premiere of The Seagull as Medvedenko. Other roles include Tito from La Clemenza di Tito, Marco Palmieri from The Gondoliers, Robert from Hin und züruck, Hadji from Lakmé, Frederic from The Pirates of Penzance, Tom Snout/Wall from Midsummer Night's Dream, El Remendado from Carmen, Basilio from Le nozze di Figaro, and Alidoro from Orontea. Other orchestral performances include soloist with Southern Adventist University’s Orchestra and Chorus in Bach's Magnificat in D Major, as well as in Haydn's Missa in Tempore Belli, under the baton of Laurie Redmer Minner. He also recently performed as the tenor soloist in The Messiah with the Weston United Methodist Church. González has attended prestigious summer programs like the Land of Enchantment Opera Institute in New Mexico and the University of Miami Frost School of Music’s summer program in Salzburg, Austria. He has studied under Dr. Gennevieve Brown-Kibble, Donna Roll, Allan Glassman, Peter Strummer, and Justin Petersen; and has coached under Noriko Yasuda, Julian Reed, Beth Nielsen, and Thomas Enman.

Emily Tweedy

Emily Tweedy (Soprano), has been hailed as "a delight" and "warm and inviting," and Opera Today praised her voice for its "genuine beauty and control." She is in demand for her clarity of tone and earnest interpretations, as well as her comedic instinct. Recent seasons included appearances as Gretel in Opera Louisiane’s Hansel and Gretel, Serpina in Painted Sky Opera’s retelling of La serva padrona, as well as her role debut as Susanna in Bel Cantanti Opera’s Le nozze di Figaro. A lover of new music as well, she recently had the privilege of singing in the world premiere of Francine Trester’s Keepers of the Light with Nahant Music Festival. Other recent appearances include artist Lee Mingwei’s Sonic Blossom at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Keiser’s Markuspassion with Nahant Music Festival, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 with the New England Brass Band. Previous seasons have included engagements with Des Moines Metro Opera, Nashville Opera, Opera Saratoga, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, American Lyric Theater, Burnt Hills Oratorio Society, the Boston Art Song Society, and Boston’s Eureka Ensemble. A Georgia native, Ms. Tweedy currently resides in New England, where she earned the degree Master of Music at the New England Conservatory.  

Erin Nelson

Erin Merceruio Nelson (Soprano), an avid performer of new and contemporary music, has premiered the chamber work Tide Flowers by composer Geoffrey Gibbs at the University of Rhode Island as the soprano soloist, appeared as Bea in Jake Heggie’s Three Decembers with TBD Opera Project under the direction of Sharon Daniels, performed the role of Margaret in The Clever Artifice of Harriet and Margaret by Leanna Kirchoff with Opera del West, and sang Beth March in Mark Adamo’s Little Women with Boston Opera Collaborative. Other recent performances include Lady Clarence in Odyssey Opera's concert production of Saint- Saëns’ Henry VIII, First Lady and Papagena in The Magic Flute with the Nahant Music Festival. Erin was also featured in Odyssey Opera’s production of Strauss’ Die ägyptische Helena and covered the role of Cunégonde in Opera del West’s production of Bernstein’s Candide. Throughout the pandemic, Erin took part in several outdoor concerts with NEMPAC and Opera on Tap Boston. Also recently, Erin was thrilled to be named a Finalist in the Vermont Vocal Competition in Brandon, VT.  

Alexandra Dietrich

Alexandra Dietrich (Alto), originally from Freeport, Maine, is a Puerto Rican American known in New England for her work as a stage director, mezzo-soprano, voice teacher, and arts and social justice advocate. Alexandra returns to Melrose Drama after directing last year’s production of The Phantom of the Opera. In the fall of 2019, Ms. Dietrich joined the voice faculty at the University of Southern Maine. She serves as the Artistic Director of NEMPAC Opera, and has since 2018, where their 2021 season, JUNETEENTH: Opera in the Key of Freedom featured the works of Black Composers spanning three centuries, was filmed at Boston’s African Meeting House. Recent select productions also include directing Try Me, Good King with Opera on Tap: Maine, Into the Woods with NEMPAC Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar at Marblehead Little Theatre, and Carrie at Broken Leg Productions. As a performer, favorite roles include Jo in Little Women (MASSOpera), Anita in West Side Story (Asheville Lyric Opera), Mrs. Johnstone in Blood Brothers (Russell Hall Theatre), and Zita in Gianni Schicchi (North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra). A music educator and choral conductor, as well, Ms. Dietrich graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelor's in Musical Theatre Performance. She is the Associate Artistic Producer for the As Told By Series at Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP). She attended the Longy School of Music for her Graduate Performance degree in Opera. She is the Director and Co-Founder of the Boston Opera Outreach Troupe and was a Master Teaching Artist for the Metropolitan Opera Guild.

Amal El-Shrafi

Amal El-Shrafi (Soprano). Hailed by the Boston Musical Intelligencer as "shining through with a strength and power that matched her character’s presence onstage", Palestinian-American soprano Amal El-Shrafi has quickly gained traction as a versatile performer in both concert work and opera. In the 2021-22 season, Ms. El-Shrafi will be premiering the role of Maryam in the workshop performance of We the Innumerable by Iranian-American composer Niloufar Nourbakhsh with Opera America Discovery Grants and will head to Barcelona, Spain for the Monserrat Caballé International Singing Competition. For the past two seasons, Ms. El-Shrafi has performed on the high seas aboard the Regal Princess, starring as The Opera Diva in the acclaimed show "Bravo" with Princess Cruise Lines. Recent engagements include two concerts with Beth Morrison Projects showcasing the work of up and coming operatic composers and the role of Antonia in Les Contes D'Hoffmann with Opera North. Ms. El-Shrafi also made her New York Philharmonic solo debut at Lincoln Center performing works of refugee and immigrant composers. Outside of performing, Ms. El-Shrafi is a Reiki practitioner and sound therapist. 

Scott Ballentine

Scott Ballentine (Baritone), has maintained a busy performing schedule in New England and across the United States. A recent young artist with St. Petersburg Opera Company, Ballantine performed the role of Marullo in Verdi’s Rigoletto and performed in various outreach capacities. Equally at home in musical theatre, Ballantine was a festival artist with Utah Festival Opera, singing Oliver Hix in The Music Man and covering Captain Phoebus in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Additionally, he has worked with companies such as Dayton Opera, Natchez Festival of Music, Boston Lyric Opera, and Connecticut Lyric Opera. Ballantine has an affinity for contemporary opera - some of his favorite roles performed include Hannah Before in As One, Father in Scarlet Ibis and the title role in Fantastic Mr. Fox. A native of Colorado, he left the mountain west in pursuit of his M.M. at The Boston Conservatory.

Laura McHugh

Laura McHugh (Soprano), a soprano “ready for heavenly ascent” (Boston Musical Intelligencer) lauded for her “superb, floating” sound (Melrose Free Press) and penchant for “hilarious interpretation” (Voce di Meche), recently won 1st Place in the Classical Singer National Competition (Emerging Professional Division), 1st Place in the Vermont Vocal Competition, and 2nd Place in Classical Idol (VOX New England). This fall, as an Artist-in-Residence with Promenade Opera Project, she will appear as the title character in Rusalka, and create the role of The Reaper in the World Premiere of Reap What You Soul. Laura will debut as the Queen of The Night (Die Zauberflöte) this winter in Kansas. This spring, she will make her Tulsa Opera debut as Harriet Mosher in a new production of Emmeline. Recent credits include Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Contessa (Le Nozze di Figaro), Mimì and Musetta (La bohème), Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica), Gerhilde (Die Walküre), Giulietta (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), and Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito).

Aurora Martin

Aurora Martin (Soprano) performs throughout New England, recently joining the ensembles of Boston Baroque and Boston Lyric Opera. She collaborates regularly with Odyssey Opera, The Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra the Arlington-Belmont Chorale, Opera del West, and Opera on Tap. Aurora Martin was named a semi-finalist in the prestigious Partners for the Arts 9th National Opera Competition.  Aurora joined Opera Company of Middlebury as a 2021 Young Artist, covering "Agnès Sorel" in The Maid of Orleans. Solo concert repertoire includes Satie’s Socrates, Mahler’s Das Knaben Wunderhorn, Beethoven’s Mass in C Major, Mozart's Coronation Mass, Saint-Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio, and Fauré’s Requiem. Operatic highlights include Pamina, Micaëla, Miss Silvertone, Noèmie, and Liesgen. Aurora holds a MM from The New England Conservatory and degrees in Music and Chemistry from Virginia Tech.

Shannon McAuliffe

Shannon Rose McAuliffe (Soprano), is a singer and musicologist who specializes in the study and performance of vocal chamber music and Historically Informed Performance. She is also an active arts educator, and teaches myriad courses about music, arts advocacy, and cultural entrepreneurship at Boston University, Northeastern University, and MIT. She co-founded and co-directs Festina, a professional vocal chamber ensemble.

Emily Adams

Emily Adams (Alto), known for her vocal flexibility and expressiveness, has performed operas, concerts, and recitals throughout southern New England. This August, Emily sang the role of Second Lady in Opera51’s production of Mozart’s Magic Flute. During the pandemic, Emily had the opportunity to sing the role of Sesto in an online production of Handel’s Giulio Cesare with the New Mexico-based opera company Antigua y Moderna. Other recent opera performances include Cupid in Orpheus in the Underworld and the Sandman in Hansel and Gretel, and recent concerts include the alto soloist in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and Handel’s Messiah. Emily earned her Bachelor’s degree in vocal performance and Master’s degree in vocal pedagogy and performance from Westminster Choir College. Emily is also a professional pianist and organist, and has accompanied productions of La Bohème and Der Schauspieldirektor for Opera New Hampshire’s educational initiative. As a ballet pianist, Emily worked with the apprentice company of Boston Ballet (BBII) and the San Francisco Opera dance corps.

Sophia O'Shea

Sophia O'Shea (Soprano) is originally from Avon Lake, OH. She graduated with her Bachelor’s in Music, in Vocal Performance, from Wright State University. Performances include: The Merry Widow (Margot/choreography), The Mikado (Peep-Bo/choreography), Oklahoma! (Kate), Once Upon a Mattress, and soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah and Mozart’s Coronation Mass. Ensemble performances include: Video Games Live, Jeans and Classics, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Braham’s Liebeslieder Walzer, Holidays in the Heartland, and a Vatican Mass in Italy. Sophia specializes in coloratura style, and is an active singer and performer in the greater Boston area.

Logan Trotter

Logan Trotter (Soprano) has performed in the choruses of Handel and Haydn Society, Marsh Chapel Choir, and the Back Bay Chorale. As a soloist, Logan has sung with the Marsh Chapel Choir and orchestra, Old South Church, and many other churches throughout Boston. Logan recently joined Ensemble Lyrae as one of their sopranos. She has appeared as a soloist in Bach’s Cantata 80, Vivaldi’s Magnificat, Rutter’s Requiem, and Vivaldi’s Gloria with the Magnolia Baroque Ensemble in North Carolina. Logan has sung with several opera companies including the Piedmont Opera Company, Greensboro Opera Company, A.J. Fletcher Opera, and New England Conservatory Opera. She received her Bachelor of Music from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and a Master of Music from New England Conservatory where she studied with Karen Holvik.

Melanie Donnelley

Melanie Donnelley (Alto) is a performer and teaching artist based in Boston. She excels in a choral setting, and currently sings alto with Nightingale Vocal Ensemble and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, as well as working professionally in a number of church choirs throughout Greater Boston. Melanie is an educational performer with Talewise, and she teaches and directs children's theatre with Young Audiences of Massachusetts, Angier After School Program, and the North End Music and Performing Arts Center. She loves the communal artistry of chorus and theatre, and always looks forward to spreading joy through caroling! 

Olivia de Geofroy

Olivia de Geofroy (Soprano) is a singer, violinist, and educator. She holds a bachelor of arts in music education and a master of arts in teaching from Westminster Choir College of Princeton, NJ. Olivia performs as a soloist and chorister in the Boston area, in addition to teaching elementary school music and maintaining a violin studio. 

Eric Ritter

Eric Ritter (Baritone/Bass) is a singer, educator, director, and arranger based in Boston. He received a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance, and masters degree in music education from Boston University. You can find him performing throughout the year with Nightingale Vocal Ensemble, as well as in various collaborative music projects in the area. 

Cailin Smith

Cailin Smith (Soprano), comfortable in both classical music and musical theatre, dares to lean into the uncomfortable, use music as a mode of advocacy, and educate young audiences. Cailin is currently pursuing her Master of Music degree at the Longy School of Music, studying with Dr. Dana Varga. Recent highlights include Titine in Libby Larsen’s The Silver Fox and four original micro-operas at Longy, and Natalie in Next to Normal at Dickinson College. Smith made her opera debut in Florence, Italy as Frasquita in Carmen and sang with The Handel Choir of Baltimore and the subset group The Chandos Singers from 2018-2021.

Thomas Valle-Hoag

Thomas Valle-Hoag (Baritone) is a singer and voice teacher originally from Concord, MA.  He earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Latin Language and Literature at Oberlin College and Conservatory, and a Master of Sacred Music degree from the University of Notre Dame.  An avid performer of music of all genres, Thomas has performed opera, musical theater, art song, and contemporary song in concert. Thomas has performed with Apollo's Fire in Cleveland and has been a featured soloist with Emmanuel Music in Boston.   Recently, Thomas has played The Beast in "Beauty and the Beast" and Gianni Schicchi in "Gianni Schicchi" with the Bay View Music Festival.  He also maintains a cantor position at Holy Family Parish in Concord, MA.

Angela Yam

Angela Yam (Soprano), praised for her "huge, clear voice," has sung with the Santa Fe Opera, New York City Ballet, Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Baroque, Chautauqua Opera, and Opera Saratoga. This season, Yam joins Boston Lyric Opera as an Emerging Artist, and makes her company debuts with Chautauqua Opera, Opera Parallèle, Guerilla Opera, and Cambridge Chamber Ensemble. Yam’s debut with Boston Baroque as Diana in Gluck’s Iphigénie en Tauride was hailed as “radiant” by the Boston Globe. She premiered Jones’ & Tinley’s ICELAND as the Bird/Heaven, where she was described as “stellar...a Puccini-esque soprano with incredible highs.” She composed for and directed Nightingale Vocal Ensemble’s award-winning choral opera ADRIFT (2023)

Maria Whitcomb

Maria Whitcomb (Soprano), performs throughout the Boston area this season with MetroWest Chamber Players, Lilith Vocal Ensemble, and the choir of The Congregational Church of Needham. She also makes her New England recital debut at The Boston Athenaeum in the world premiere of Bruno C. Faria’s song cycle Sing-Song, composed in memory of her late father Benjamin Whitcomb III. Her recent operatic engagements highlight the works of Gian Carlo Menotti; the title role in Amahl and the Night Visitors, (Music on Site, Inc.) and Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief (Queens Summer Vocal Institute). Maria holds degrees from Syracuse University's Setnor School of Music and the Longy School of Music of Bard College.

Melynda Davis

Melynda Davis (Soprano), has gained attention for her wonderful legato line and beautiful color. She is on the roster for Boston Lyric Opera and has performed with Lowell House Opera,  Boston Pops, NY Lyric Opera Theater, Mass Opera, Opera Company of Brooklyn, and Seaglass Theater Company.  Operatic roles include: Desdemona (Otello), Nedda (Pagliacci), Countess (Le nozze di Figaro), Mimi (La Bohème), Leonie (Freedom Ride), and Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica).  She was a finalist in Connecticut Opera Guild, placed First in the RINATS Competition and placed Second in Boston's Leontyne Price Vocal Arts Competition.  Melynda serves on the Board of Opera on Tap Boston and Boston Singers Resource.

Hannah Robinson

Hannah "Ro" Robinson (Alto), is a pianist, vocalist, and composer from northeast Ohio. She holds bachelor's degrees in music and in theological studies, and her music career has emphasized church music. Her choral experience spans a wide range of ensemble sizes and genres, from small a cappella vocal jazz ensembles, to large community choirs such as the City of Oxford Choir, to liturgical choirs such as the Exeter College Chapel Choir at the University of Oxford. She currently works as a staff singer at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Cambridge, and is working on a Master of Divinity at Harvard Divinity School. 

Ashley Victoria Jones

Ashley Victoria Jones (Alto), is a local singer in the Boston area and an Alumna of The Boston Conservatory. She currently sings with Boston Lyric Opera and Odyssey Opera as an active chorus member. Ashley is a newer member of Olde Towne Carolers, but is no stranger to providing delight to music lovers in any environment. Ashley was a theatre performer at the Medieval Manor for 3 years and a Troubadours singer for her Alma Mater.   Ashley looks forward to expanding her performance opportunities and to share art with new colleagues and lovers of music everywhere. 

Rose Whitcomb

Rose Whitcomb (Alto), is a multi-instrumentalist and singer who studied Music at Harvard University (B.A. 2016) and Boston University (M.M. 2023). Rose has been teaching General Music as part of Everett Public Schools for the past 5 years, focusing on equitable and rigorous music education practices in our district. Rose loves to conduct and lead performances with youth choirs of hundreds of students. In her private music studio, she teaches lessons on piano, clarinet, violin and more. She is a versatile and caring musician and educator and loves the community where she works and lives.
